Yee-Hah! Inc. was established in 1993. That was a good year for whitewater boating in Arizona. Company founders, Dorothy Riddle and Julie Meeker, were enjoying boating and singing around the campfire together. They decided to research and develop a river songbook to include their favorite songs and those of their boating friends. The research and development phase took quite a while. Polls were taken to determine the favorites. Original songs were solicited. Music Clearance, Inc. was contracted to help in obtaining permission to reprint songs not in the public domain. Music copyist, Diane Aboud, helped write the songs in a simplified format. After countless revisions, a draft copy of the songbook was circulated to several music proofreaders. Artist, John Riddle, provided the pen and ink illustrations, and Crystal Allbright provided the pastel cover art. Finally, in 2003, Sing for the River, A Collection of River Songs was published. Since then lots of river runners and musicians across the country have enjoyed the songbook. Several river outfitters carry it as part of their souvenir product line, and music stores offer it in their folk music section. Feedback has been positive.
